Tigers On the Brink After Game 5 Loss

Don't jump off the ledge just yet.

Don’t jump off the ledge just yet.

All you really need to know is the following: the Tigers are down 3 games to 2 in their best of 7 and they have aces 1 and 2 slotted for game 6 and (a possible) game 7.

They’ve won before when they had their backs up against the wall. They beat an Oakland team in two straight, including a game 5 on the road. They tied the Red Sox to avoid falling into a 3-1 deficit. If any team can steal two on the road, it might be the Tigers. Why? Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander.

This isn’t to say this series is destined to go the full 7 games, at all. You can count on Scherzer to give the Tigers a chance, though, and if he gives them a chance and they take advantage, well. You can certainly count on Verlander to do the same.

The big bats will need to produce, however, and in key situations. They came close at various times tonight, as the Red Sox pitching staff bent but didn’t break. The Tigers were down early but not quite out. The comeback didn’t come to fruition tonight.

The Tigers will have a bigger comeback in mind on Saturday, and they’ll have just the man on the mound to set it into motion.

This series has been decided by 1 run games, and in each of our losses those 1 run games were decided by 1 pitch that ended up being a mistake by Tigers pitching. Really? I would think with Sherzer on the bump in game 6, they will not be able to capitalize on a mistake by Sherzer, you would think its the Tigers turn to capitalize on a Boston pitching mistake. I mean, really, what are the odds Boston can beat Sherzer, and then come around and beat Verlander?? As much as I like Sherzer, Kershaw, Wainwright, and whomever else there is no one I would rather start in a game 7 than Verlander. We are going to throw the kitchen sink at Boston in game 6, and if we win game 6, then we will throw the kitchen sink at them again. It is only a matter of time before Fielder gets a big hit, or Cabrera- the purest and most clutch hitter in baseball comes up with a big hit, however, I have been saying that the entire series and nadda, zilch, zero, cero, nothing. I think its time for them to flex their muscle tonight and create our own mystique, they have the talent to be legends, they have the personality to be legends, but they are lacking that “one hit”in the postseason that will be forever remembered. Those hits will be coming in game 6.

I will be wearing the same hat, shirt, socks, drinking the same low carb monster and dipping the same dip I had during our last win. I love God, Family, Country, and the Tigers- in that order.

    Very Respectfully,

The biggest Tigers fan on the planet.
