ALCS Game 4: Red Sox (2-1) @ Tigers (1-2)

Jim Leyland boldly goes where Jim Leyland has rarely gone before.

Jim Leyland boldly goes where Jim Leyland has rarely gone before.

WHOA WHOA WHOA STOP THE PRESSES.

Jim Leyland, long criticized by armchair managers for being a stick in the mud and resistant to change, has shuffled his starting lineup! Most notably, Austin Jackson has been dropped to #9, while Miguel Cabrera has been moved up to bat in the 2 hole! Will these moves pay dividends? It remains to be seen, but I guess when you’re not scoring you have to try something.

Doug Fister (0-0, 4.50 ERA) will start for the Tigers, while Jake Peavy (0-0, 1.59 ERA) will start for the Red Sox.

Jackson’s been dropped to #8, not #9. And it’s about time. Wish he had done it sooner.
