He doesn’t like explaining his lineups, so I suggest this one neverchanging lineup considering OPS Against LHP and OPS Against RHP.
CF, RH, Austin Jackson, (L .856, R .856)
RF, RH, Torii Hunter, (L. 868, R .798)
3B, RH, Miguel Cabrera, (L .913, R 1.021)
1B, LH, Prince Fielder, (L.808, R 1.017)
DH, SH, Victor Martinez, (L .823, R .862)
LF, LH, Andy Dirks, (L .751, R .889)
SS, RH, Jhonny Peralta, (L .692, R .688)
C, LH, Alex Avila, (L .539, R .796)
2B, RH, Omar Infante, (L .872, R .656)
Besides Jhonny Peralta in general and Alex Avila against Left Handed pitching there is nothing the Tigers should move in this lineup. I’d like to see them go get another SS but there’s not much available this winter and so they may be stuck with him.
As for Avila, they could go after a right handed catcher to play against left handed pitching (for example Kelly Shoppach who can be had cheap – under $2m – and has a career .868 OPS against left handed pitching).
Huh.
Leave it alone Jim.
