Since the Tigers didn’t sign another Gerald Laird today, they decided that on the brink of a new CBA announcement coming early next week, they would announce some roster moves.
Cale Iorg was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo. This means that Iorg has cleared waivers from the 40 man roster, which is incredibly disappointing since this guy was paid to be the next starting shortstop of your Detroit Tigers a few years ago, and now won’t even be touched by any of the other teams in either league.
The Tigers also added the following to the 40 man roster:
- RHP Matt Hoffman of Toledo
- RHP Tyler Stohr of Erie
- LHP Casey Crosby of Erie
- OF Avisail Garcia of Advanced-A Lakeland
- IF Hernan Perez of Low-A West Michigan
Garcia and Crosby are two notable names. Garcia is a 20 year old outfielder who made his rounds in spring training last year. He is a native Venezuelan, and we all know DD loves his friends from down south. Crosby has been a prospect on the radar for a couple years, but has not made it out of double-A, mostly due to injuries.
This doesn’t mean either one is close to the big leagues, but they are among the top 40, though that fact can be manipulated two ways.
