Avila looked a little woozy after the play and was immediately taken out of the game. After a moment’s delay, Scherzer got out of the inning on the next pitch and replacement catcher Gerald Laird doubled in his first at bat. There is no word yet on whether Avila was taken out for precautionary reasons or if there are concussion-like symptoms to be worried about.
