Earlier this afternoon, news broke that Delmon Young will be suspended by the MLB for an undisclosed amount of time. According to the Detroit News, Young was scheduled to attend an alcohol and anger management meeting with various MLB officials. Long story short, that meeting probably didn’t go so well.
The New York Post, who originally broke the news, also noted that the MLB suspended Atlanta Braves pitching coach Roger McDowell for two weeks after making “gay slurs and [using] foul language to fans.” As long as NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan and the Wheel of Justice (I love that link) don’t get involved, it’s probably safe to assume that Young will be missing at least two weeks worth of games for his incident last Friday.
Update: According to pretty much every single Tigers beat writer on Twitter, Young has been suspended for 7
games days retroactive to Friday, meaning that he’ll have to sit out four more games until Friday. Tonight’s postponed game has no effect on Young’s suspension.
